9月19日 Thank you TV I know I have wrote about dog fighting before but this week it was brought up in the media, so I thought I would take advatange of that plus a newsrelease I recently read. The ASPCA has put together a mobile CSI animal unit to aid in forensic Veterenary work. Dog fighting is very hard to prosecute because you basically have to catch them in the act, however using the forensics they can now match the blood found left in rings to dogs they believe have fought. Now when a match is made it makes prosecution much easier. Recently in Georgia a dog fighting raid took place and 11 dogs were taken along with dog fighting gear.
This past Wed. on Fox's Tv show Bones they used dog fighting as that episodes case. They showed pictures of dogs fighting and described what the equiptment is used for and other details describing the pain dogs have to go through. There was even a commerical aired showing dogs giving their side of the story. They "talked" about how they do not want to fight but their masters make them and if they live the have to fight again, but if they lose their masters kill them. If you have not yet noticed I take dog fighting very seriously I think it is sick and cruel and I think the owners of those dogs should be put through what they do to those dogs. I think the commerical put on my the Humane society was a very good way to get the message to the public. 9月5日 Just say no!August 20th, 2008 the ASPCA released a news release on the largest puppy mill raid in Tennessee's history. More then 700 dogs were taken from the property as well as other domestic animals. Patricia Adkisson was indicted on 24 felony counts and other misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. The ASPCA used what they call "animal CSI" to assist in the case.
I hope people think about this and think next time they walk into a pet store to purchase a pet. Make sure they can provide valid information about where that pet came from to stop the puppy mill cycle. Better yet say no to pet stores and questionable breeders all together and rescue your next best friend. There are a ton of animal rescue agencies and shelters that need their animals adopted. I volunteered at an animal shelter and I hated watching them take dogs and cats away to be put down. Say no to puppy mills and yes to shelter adoptions. |
